We would like to explain forwarding with a practical example. A woman orders a new cat scratching post from pet store Going Kolombo, client of Distrilog. One week later, the scratching post is neatly placed in her living room and her cat has already discovered its new favourite spot. To the customer, it appears to be a simple online purchase. In reality, there lies an impressive logistics journey behind that delivery.

Long before the scratching post arrives at her home, its journey begins in a factory in China. There, the various components are manufactured, packaged and prepared for transport. The shipment is then sent to the port, where it is loaded into a container along with thousands of other goods.

After traveling thousands of kilometers by sea, the container arrives in Europe. The goods are unloaded and transported onward to Belgium. Through a combination of different transport modes, and thanks in part to Distrilog’s transportation services, the scratching post eventually reaches Going Kolombo’s warehouse. There, the order is processed and prepared for delivery.

Behind the purchase of a single scratching post lies an entire logistics chain involving manufacturers, transport companies, customs authorities, and warehouses working closely together. Forwarding coordinates this complex process from start to finish.
