A growing business has growing staff levels, which necessitates change both in structure and functionality.
Continuous growth was precisely what gave Distrilog the opportunity to restructure and employ their existing assets and processes differently.
Our staff are the most important factor in our success. That’s why we work on the principle: “a happy employee likes to come to work and delivers quality to our customers”. To support this principle the HR department is focused on four areas: being a strategic partner, providing guidance during internal change, carrying out personnel administration correctly and being a point of contact for staff.
Human resources steady development in these areas is therefore key to both staff and the company
How are we setting about this task at Distrilog?
On the one hand HR operates as a centralised department when it comes to social dialogue, recruitment and selection, internal communication and training. On the other hand each site and activity is unique and therefore requires specific tasks to be carried out. To cater for these elements our central department is supported by HR staff who are involved partly at a local level.
Tom, HR employee Cargovil: “For the last few months I have divided my time between head office and our site in Vilvoorde. Being present at a central level allows me in particular to learn more and quickly from more experienced colleagues. For example we discuss each other’s best practices. On top of that I meet colleagues from other departments, which allows me to broaden my view of the company. Working at a local level is key for keeping in touch with operations and to have sufficient contact with our staff. “
More than just an organogram
At Distrilog Human Resources is a team effort whereby colleagues act as ambassador with the appropriate central support. That’s why we organise sessions with our coaches, to keep our fingers on the pulse, and why we train our operational managers very specifically.
We bring the differences together to form a common vision. The internal slogan "A large logistics group with the heart of a family business where you make a difference” is then quite true to life.
